The Changing Meaning of Relationships in 2024

In 2024, relationships changed significantly due to such phrases as “hookup,” “situationship,” and “label-free” becoming widespread. It is a move that reflects a culture where career aspirations often take precedence over traditional partnerships. In this regard, many people are negotiating the complexities of modern dating while also dealing with past traumas from previous relationships that can make it difficult for them to establish meaningful connections—often helped by matrimonial apps. Films like "Laila Majnu" coming back into the picture makes us realize how love has become shallow in today’s fast world. Similarly, classics such as Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) or Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) have been revived and emphasize on genuine relations and joy. All these movies make the audience think about what is missing in their lives—a feeling of connection and emotional closeness beyond fleeting encounters. Rape vs Humanity: When Will India Act?

In recent days, the surge in rape cases across India, as reported by newspapers and local news channels, has once again put a spotlight on the lack of safety for women. This rise in heinous crimes raises a critical question—when will India take meaningful action to prevent these brutal assaults? A statement made by a female minister recently added fuel to the debate, suggesting that the rise in rape cases is due to the increased friendly interactions between boys and girls in today's generation. In ancient times , as per the Vedas, punishments for such crimes were severe. For instance, the punishment for committing sexual crimes, including adultery and torture, involved gruesome methods like being pierced with hot maces (Salmali) or thrown into polluted wells filled with excreta and poisonous creatures (Puyodakam).  Wh...

78th Independence Celebration Versus Real Independence

As India gears up to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, I can’t help but reflect on what real independence means. While we have gained freedom from colonial rule, I feel that we are still far from being truly independent in many aspects of our lives. Look around us — we’re still judged for how we think, speak, and act. Whether it’s about politics, relationships, or even our education system, societal pressures continue to bind us.  We’re celebrating freedom, but many of us still feel constrained by outdated mindsets and the opinions of others. For instance, recent events like the rape case in Kolkata and the destruction of temples in Bangladesh make me question if we’ve really progressed. Yes, social media brings these issues to light, but it’s also a tool used to scam and manipulate. How can we call ourselves independent when such contradictions exist? I believe it’s time for the youth of this century to break free from these societal expectations. Young people should have the f...
